Discover Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy is celebrating 15 years of Catholic Education in 2023. The red-brick school purchased in southwestern Ontario opened its doors for the first time to elementary and high school students in 2008. Father Peter Scott, the first Principal and Father Dominic May, the Vice Principal, laid the foundations of the future of the parish and school under the patronage of our Blessed Mother under the title for which the Brown Scapular is best know: Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The original building provided classrooms for the school, accommodation for the priests and boarding students, and a chapel for local Traditional Catholics. A number of courageous families moved from Toronto to be close to this budding flower of Catholic Tradition.

In 2013, Father David Sherry took charge, and began to plan the school’s expansion with a new dormitory. Providence wished the parish to find a permanent home first, and Saint Peter’s Catholic Church was acquired in 2016, two years before the new residence was inaugurated with a solemn blessing from Father Daniel Couture in 2018. Several dignitaries including the mayor and the Right Honourable Harold Albrecht, our local Member of Parliament, were in attendance for the occasion.

Today our school counts three priests, seventeen staff members, and seventy-seven students including thirty-eight boarders. Thanks to our committed and highly qualified teachers, the courses taught include Theology, Philosophy, Latin, French, History, Geography, Music, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English Literature, English Expression, Shop and Athletics.
