Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy Templars Basketball 2016-2017 Season

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy’s Templars Junior and Senior basketball teams joined Division 8 for the 2016-2017 season. The basketball season included 11 regular games and an Invitational Tournament by Rockway Mennonite Collegiate. Now at its end, both teams have seen many losses and have tasted a couple of wins, but the Templars’ cheering squad never failed to bring their high spirits and positivity.  

THEIR WINS

The Templar teams achieved their first win on December 14, 2016 against the Junior and Senior teams of Woodland Christian High School at a “home” game at Conestoga College. The Junior Templars won with a 50-38 victory behind a 21-point effort from James Fisher. The Senior Templars won 43-48 with Michael Judickas leading the scoreboard with 14-points. At their last game of the season, the Junior Templars team won against Rockway Mennonite Collegiate by a free throw shot made by Lyle Arendoque. It was an exciting and thrilling game that brought the Templars cheering squad to their feet, and then on to the court to congratulate the boys on their last game.

STAT LEADERS

JUNIOR TEMPLARS

On the Junior team, James Fisher is the overall leader in total points with 196 points. James also leads the scoreboard with the most 3-points made, with Lyle Arendoque following closely behind. Both Lyle and the Senior Templars’ Michael Judickas have tied in the most overall assists in the season.

SENIOR TEMPLARS

On the Senior team, Michael Fisher is the Senior Templars’ leading scorer with 181 points and the leading rebounder with 130 rebounds. Another stats leader is Joseph Nienaber with a high 71% free throw percentage.
