OLMCA's 2017 Graduation
On June 14th, 2017, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Academy said congratulations to 19 graduates, and farewell to 10 of those students that have completed their final year at OLMCA.
Graduates, along with family, friends, and faithful, began the day giving thanks to God with a beautiful Solemn High Mass celebrated by Canada's District Superior, Fr. Couture, assisted by Fr. Sherry and Fr. Potvin, in St. Peter's Catholic Church for the first time. Everyone then made their way to the graduation ceremony hosted at OLMCA's gymnasium where breakfast awaited them.
The graduation ceremony opened with a speech from Professor Jean-Paul Remont Poninski. Speaking directly to the graduates, he spoke on the world's need for good and faithful Catholics, and that the graduates must firstly save their souls as their most important goal before becoming successful in the world. Afterwards, Fr. Sherry and Fr. Potvin awarded the respective students their awards in specific subjects and school activities that they accelerated in throughout the year. Then, one by one, Fr. Sherry congratulated and handed each student from the 8th grade class and 12th grade class their diplomas. A roar of applauses came from friends and families for all of the graduates as their tassels were moved from one side of their cap to the other, representing the next stage of their lives.
To end the ceremony, Fr. Sherry made the announcement that next year OLMCA will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and will be hoping to bring previous priests and invite all alumni to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Congratulations to all those who graduated! God bless you all and all of your endeavours, and we hope to see our new alumni next year!
