Canadian Martyrs Pilgrimage 2017
OLMCA and the faithful from New Hamburg, Toronto, St. Catharines, Orillia, the District of Southern Ontario, and a couple of faithful from Michigan, went on the annual pilgrimage to the Canadian Martyrs' Shrine in Midland, Ontario. A group of men that included the high school boys began their pilgrimage the day before on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel. They began the pilgrimage at Orillia and made it to a location just before the usual stop at St. Ignace for the night. The morning began quite chilly with a Low Mass celebrated by Fr. Lilis. The sun continued to shine and the weather was great for all of the pilgrims to walk in for 12 kms. Once the pilgrims arrived at the Canadian Martyrs' Shrine, a Solemn Mass was celebrated by Fr. Boulet, Fr. Lillis, and visitng priest, Fr. Kimball, from the St. Joseph's, Michigan parish. After giving thanks for a successful pilgrimage, the pilgrims all gathered at a hall for a feast.
The Canadian Martyrs Pilgrimage is usually held on the last Saturday of September and invite all to join us for this annual event!
